but even without Hermione's counsel, he would inevitably do the right
thing. It's just him. I mean, he spared the man who killed his
parents and made his life miserable for 10 years. I have a hard time
believing that he wouldn't show the same mercy to a boy that --
although a major prick -- hasn't really done *much* lasting harm to
him or his friends. Of course, Draco and Co. have certainly made the
trio's life a living teenage hell -- but sending them unjustly to
Azkaban would be too petty for Harry, IMO.

I agree.. Though if it *does* become a moral choice - like that it's
Harry cares for who *really* did the thing, and the one who's accused
is someone Harry doesn't like - well, Hermione nor Ron might not be
able to do anything. While Harry trusts them, when it comes to
needing councel of something not involving a spell, it's Sirius,
possibly Dumbledore, but mainly Sirius for now.
Sirius on other hand, would not need much - and be in the position to
give such guidance that Harry *would* speak up. For a one thing,
there's no question that James would have, but most importantly,
Sirius having *been* there for 12 years, beeing guilty of nothing he
was accused of. Though not exactly innocent - unregistered animagus
as one charge he *is* guilty of, but I do not think it'd warrant 12
years - but possibly some time in Azcaban, never the less.
I have no doubt what Sirius' opinion would be, even if it's Snape who
is accused wrongly. Only problem is how Sirius would point it out...
