Aiye. While I was reading this, I was hit with the horrible notion that
what if Lucious really DID take over as MoM in one of the future books? We
know from the canon that although Lucius is a DE and is basically a
slimeball, he DOES hold a certain amount of respect, especially from Fudge
and his followers. And, obviously, he's smart enough (at least for now) to
earn back Voldemort's trust, even after he had "left" his side for 13 years.
If Fudge was killed or unable to control his ofice, would Lucius get the job?
Another reason I think he's at least be in the running is that Fudge is
absolutely refusing to believe that Voldemort is back. He tells Dumbledore
he's wrong, and that the very idea is pretty much laughable. Now, if someon
had to take over for Fudge, Lucius would be in the position to do so. He
would obviously agree with Fudge and deny any rumor that Voldemort was back
in the slightest. By doing this, he'd gain the trust of MoM workers, while at
the same time making things much easier for Voldemort to gain back all this
powers. Any thoughts?
