Snape fulfilling his life debt

Snape certainly held off Quirrell's curse, but Harry was not removed 
from danger until Hermione did her hotfoot routine, so at the very 
most, Snape only gets an assist.

If Snape has a real life debt, which I view as a kind of magical 
covenant with James and his line, this doesn't seem to satisfy it.
