This has nothing to do with Darrin's post in the sense that it
replies *exactly*, but I needed to reference someone so I could post
my thoughts on this topic, but from a different angle ::smirk::
Snape has gone out of his way time and time again to save precious
Harry Potter from mortal peril. We've seen him stand up to Sirius
Black in an attempt to save his life, as well as considering that
Potter wasn't the one to petrify Filch's cat in book 2. There's other
instances with Snape performing a counter curse in book 1 so that
Harry wouldn't fall off his broom, and much much more!
It seems to me that for someone who "doesn't like Harry" that he
seems to save him quite a bit. He may be hard on Potter time and time
again, but I think he uses his bitterness as a way to save face. Like
everyone else in the Potter World, Snape has a soft spot for Harry
Potter---it's just deep, deep, deep inside.
