Could Quidditch really work?

I totally agree, though I've refrained from writing as I haven't yet 
read the "Quidditch Through the Ages" book. The thing that worries 
me about it is the lack of a focal point. In the Muggle World all 
popular ball games have only one ball in play at a time. Now there 
are some notable exceptions to this rule e.g. golf and snooker or 
pool. But in golf there's still only one ball to pay attention to at 
a time and in snooker the table is small enough to take it all in at 
a glance.

I too don't think Quidditch would work.
