       I think a good way to describe Quiddich is that it's an extended 
'sudden death overtime' game played simultaneously with the standard game. 
the standard game, as has been commented, is the quaffle/chasers/beaters 
scoring game and the golden snitch/seeker part is the 'overtime' bit. Two 
different levels, and each would have it's fans.
