Concerning the singing valentine, I personally don't think it was
Ginny who sent it. "His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad"
Does that sound like something a girl in love would write? Harry
thought she did at the time, but her look was more shock at seeing
Riddle's diary than embarassment.
That Ginny was there convinces me it was Fred & George, who although
nice guys were probably terrible to have as big brothers. They
thought it was funny to jump out and scare Ginny when Hogwarts was in
terror. They announced Harry as 'Make way for the heir of Slytherin'
and turned Ron's teddy bear into a giant spider. Nice guys, but
considering Dudley's ton-tongue toffee, I'd rather have them as
friends than enemies.
Concerning Ginny's immaturity, the thing to remember about the 4
Harry Potter books is that they cover FOUR YEARS! PLUS Ginny is a
year younger then the trio so was 10 in book 1 and only 13 in GofF.
Still she matured more than Ron. Laura agrees here...

The willies from little Ginny? As a first year she survived
possession from LV! She WAS NOT corrupted (for those who have to post
about characters going bad)

JKR on the subject of Ginny has said her and Hermione have become
good friends. I believe it's stated in the books that Hermione stays
in Ginny's room when she visits the Burrow.
Also the majority of screentime (pagetime whatever) of Ginny was in
ChofS. Was she wven in PofA? I couldn't find her! In GofF we see a
girl two years removed from the giggler. Concerning the Yule Ball she
was disappointed that she missed out on Harry but was kind and gentle
to both Harry's feelings and Neville's.
I'd like to see more of Ginny in Order of the Phoenix, (a year more
matured than GofF) If there is a power stroggle in the MoM between
Fudge and Dumbledore, all the Weasleys may be tested.
