Woohoo! I mean..... yes. Sad. Really sad. I'll be crying, but I'm
thrilled you agree with me.

The readers are often in the same place as the characters. I was
flipping through one of those dreadful fan books they've published,
which recorded tons of requests from fans for future books, and Percy
dying, or disappearing, was asked for by quite a few kids, b/c he's
too uptight and boring. Just wait till he dies and they'll be sorry.
Meanwhile, I think it's funny that Ron says Percy doesn't care for
his family enough, when all the evidence is the other way around.
Percy's the only person who has really demonstrated his affection for
Ron (though I'm sure the others have it), whereas Ron and the others
are very cool towards Percy.

I can't see valiant Percy purposely following You-Know-Who. He
doesn't fit the profile, imho. But I can see him getting taken in by
all those DEs working at the ministry.
Reasons why Percy is Valiant (for those who are already snickering)
1. Became Prefect in fifth form, telling people much older what to
do, and enforcing it. You need guts for that.
2. Raced off to deal with the DEs in GOF, and came back bleeding.
3. Patrolled the dangerous corridors in Chamber of Secrets.

Yes! Wouldn't it be horrendous if he chose well, and that resulted in
him being killed by the good guys in some way?

My love for fictional characters often runs that way. Death is such a
simple ingredient to add to the mix and it improves it so much.
