Snape and the wolfsbane potion in the shrieking shack (was taking Lupin his potion)

I took that to mean that he took the goblet along to Lupin's office. 
Lupin wasn't there, the map was, Snape saw where Lupin was and went
after him, leaving the potion behind.  Surely, if he had appeared in
the Shrieking Shack holding a big smoking goblet, Harry and the others
would've noticed.
