How JKR hired UFOs from Graceland to shoot JFK

Translated: It's time for good, old fashioned conspiracy theory!

Back before Christmas, I sent a post through to the list: in a
preview to the BBC Christmas Special, various articles had stated
that we'd get some nerve-tingling news in the coming show: Harry
is going to date Cho - but develop a more romantic interest
Hermione! But by the time the show hit the airwaves, that
romantic interest vanished faster than a UFO in Arizona.

Here are a few of the links that cropped up back then:
http://www.cnn.com/2001/SHOWBIZ/Movies/12/23/potter.author/
http://www.hindustantimes.com/nonfram/231201/dLFOR15.asp
http://www.itv.com/news/Entertainment7297665.html

Doesn't anyone else find this just a tad odd? Fortunately, I have
taken a little time to develop a few theories to explain this
strange disappearance:
(1) A large group of journalists had a simultaneous mass
hallucination and/or acid flash.
(2) Every HP-oriented newspaper article in the whole world (note:
that's the Hindustani Times up there ... ) is actually written by
a reclusive, romantic Texan, known only by the initials PN.
(3) JKR, in collaboration with certain unnamed Poltergeists,
intentionally spread misinformation to see if she could wind up
her fans a little.

I decided to write the book editor of the Guardian (which had
printed a similar article) and helpfully explained some of my
theories. He wrote back as follows:

> Dear Mike Gray
> Thanks for your email and for drawing the mistake to our
attention - it happened
> due to an ambiguity in the pre-release information about the
programme. We've
> now amended the story. No acid flashback or evil enchantment, I
promise.

Sure enough - the article is now fixed - no more Hermione!
http://books.guardian.co.uk/Print/0,3858,4326559,00.html

So: the conspiracy continues - now we are into the Evil Cover Up.
But a good conspiracy theorist is not so easily daunted. Just
what sort of "ambiguity" in a press release causes droves of
professional journalists to write things like this?

> There will also be further romance following on from Harry
> Potter And The Goblet Of Fire in which he has a date with
> a quidditch team-mate -- and develops more of an interest in
> pal Hermione. [CNN]

And so, at least in my twisted mind, the hunt continues.

Baaaaaa!

Aberforth's Goat (a.k.a. Mike Gray, who is thinking of selling
the movie rights to Oliver Stone ... )
