Interesting conspiracy theory. Carry on with the hunt. The truth is
out there.
But since this is bugging me (what could be the answer?), I'm going to
be a spoil-sport and venture a prosaic explanation. It looks to me
like a grammatical error.

"in which" seems to refer to GoF. Now, that's impossible b/c neither
of those things happen in GoF, right? Yes, but the person who wrote
the article hasn't read the book, just other press clippings, in which
people ask, "Will Harry date Hermione?" and J.K. Rowling goes, "You'll
see." and reviews of the books, "Harry asks Cho Chang out."
So, now our friend the illiterate article writer sits down and has to
put a frame around J.K. Rowling's famous hormone statement. Using his
gleamed and limited knowledge of the books, he writes a fancy little
intro about how Book V will follow on to several events in Book IV,
events that never actually happned.
Whoever wrote the first article is followed by the others, and the
rumours get more and more interesting.... but also, I think, untrue.
