I have all 4 books on cd (the Jim Dale versions) and have enjoyed
them very much on long car journeys. However, I was curious about
the S. Fry versions so I ordered PS from Amazon.com.uk and became an
instant convert. I was always a little bothered by Dale's over-the-
top characterizations, particularly by the way he had Hermione say
Harry's name (Haaaarrrrry). The Fry version is much drier and IMO
funnier. I somehow imagine his interpretations to be much closer to
JKR's vision, and more truly British. I'd love to get the rest of
the Fry/UK cds, but for some reason they are much pricier than the
American versions, even before the shipping charges. I've been
hoping they'll show up on ebay sometime.
