Harry was born in the period Voldemort 'ruled' the wizzard-world, just as most of the kids currently at Hogwarts.
Imagine yourself in a world of panic, like the second world war, you don't know what's gonna happend to the world and to your life... would you chose to have a baby in those hard times? A baby you don't know of what future it's gonna have, if it'll be a slave for Voldemort?

So normally Hogwarts has a lot more students but because now the Voldemort-generation is at school there are far less kids, because nobody wanted their children to have maybe/probably a horrible future.

At least, that's what logical to me.
hmm I'm only in this list for 2 days and I already made 3 post, it all seems so obvious to me, I don't see why you don't get it! (or maybe my subject has been discussed for 1000's of times but I just don't know)
