The character I pity the most

Oooh, a pity party!  This sounds like fun.  :-)

Actually, there are quite a number of characters to feel sorry for in 
HP.  I have little pangs about the plights of Lupin and Black, for 
instance.

But I guess the character(s) I feel most sorry for are the Diggorys.  
Cedric was killed for no reason at all, simply because he was in the 
wrong place at the wrong time.  His parents are left to grieve 
desperately for him.  None of the Diggorys did anything wrong; they 
were innocent bystanders.  Cedric died the youngest compared to 
most/all of the other characters who have died so far -- James, Lily, 
Frank, Bertha, Crouch Sr., Crouch Jr. -- and Cedric never had a 
chance to experience anything beyond life at Hogwarts.  

That's kinda pitiful.
