Just been wondering about Scabbers/Pettigrew.

Why do you think he chose the Weasley family to hide out
with all this time?

Just coincidence? Or could he learn a lot while living there
as a family pet, assuming his life as a rat didn't take away
too many of his faculties?

Did he regularly go to Hogwarts with one of the kids and
have opportunities to spy?

What would he have done if he hadn't been discovered in PoA?
Just continued to be a rat forever, maybe moving on to
another family?

After all, at some point the Weasleys would have started to
wonder about Scabbers longevity.

It just didn't seem to me that he had any big plans of
re-joining LV, but I've been known to overlook the obvious.

And if there *was* a reason for Pettigrew to choose the
Weasleys, I wonder what exactly it was and if it's something
sinister to come out in future books.
