(A little OT, but people here DO discuss HP
parallelisms, don't they? (Dark is Rising, LOTR...?))
Akazukin Chacha fans may find this interesting:
There's this site I came across that compares ACC and
HP. The person came up with pretty good (and, well,
obvious) comparisons and parallelisms.
The site:

(This site could belong to one of you...)
But of course, if one thinks long enough, virtually
any series or story becomes similar / parallel to HP.
I think.

For starters, both series have very young protagonists
who attend a magical school. In HP, it's Hogwarts,
which is a big arcane castle-like place hidden in the
middle of nowhere. In ACC, it's the Urara School of
Magic, which is more like a regular elementary school;
except that it's attended by young witches, wizards,
werewolves, ninjas, mermaids, etc.
Another similarity is that both series have a main
trio, formed by the main character and his/her two
best friends. There are also further parallels between
the characters from the two trios.
Chacha is not really like Harry in terms of
personality (not to mention that unlike Harry, she's
quite bad at flying ^^;;) But, both characters were
orphaned during infancy when a big evil villain
disposed of their parents (Harry's parents were
killed, Chacha's were turned to stone). Both discover
later in life that they are more than what they
thought themselves to be (Harry finds out he's a
wizard, Chacha finds out she's a princess). Both go to
attend their respective magical schools, where they
meet true friends and find that they are destined to
face the big evil villain again.
Riiya is similar to Ron in many ways. Both are the
tallest among their respective trios. Both are rather
hotheaded and impulsive, and don't really think things
through. Both are fiercely loyal to their friends.
Both come from very large families, and have a lot of
barely-buried resentment towards their many brothers.
Shiine, on the other hand, is similar to Hermione
basically in that he's very bright and studious, and
is the most level head of the trio. Other than that,
their personalities aren't much alike.
Another parallel is between the characters of
Dumbledore and Seravi. Both are hailed as one of the
most powerful magic-users in their respective worlds
(Seravi even holds the official title of "World's
Greatest Magician"). Both serve as mentors to the main
character. Both of them, despite being incredibly
powerful, are willing to let the main character learn
his/her own lessons and figure things out on his/her
own. Both have very quirky and eccentric
personalities, and are sometimes thought of as crazy;
but both know a LOT more than they let on. In fact, I
would go so far as to say that their personalities are
exactly alike! Well, Dumbledore is somewhat more
laid-back, but I imagine that's just the difference
between being 28 years old and being 150 years old.
^^;;
There are other, smaller similarities between the two
series. Like Orin, the little ninja girl with a crush
on Shiine, reminds me a lot of Ginny. ^_^ And Rascal,
one of the teachers at Chacha's school, can be
compared to McGonagall in that he appears very strict
and intimidating, but really has a HUGE soft spot for
his students, and can get very emotional. ^_^ Yakko,
Chacha's self-proclaimed rival, can be compared to
Snape in that she likes to wear black and is an expert
at potions; and also, beneath the mean and scheming
front she puts up, she is actually a good person. ^_^
