I can imagine Harry being sent to St Mungo's - but I do wonder if JKR
will really explore mental illness in the Potterverse. Ok, so we know
that Harry isn't ill, but he would have to be treated as though he
is. There is still such stigma attached to mental illness (in the UK
at least). If she can do it, and open it up as a discussion subject
in a "children's" book, then I guess many would be grateful to her.
I suppose that she could just do it as a humorous interlude. But how
would Harry's Aunt & Uncle treat him if they knew that he was
considered to be crazy by the wizarding community - would they still
have him back? I also wonder if Harry is still really popular - Rita
Skeeter's poison pen seems to have worked against him at Hogwarts
(kids avoiding him in the corridors etc) might this also be true in
the wizarding community as a whole. Adulation can quickly turn to
hate, or distrust at the very least - especially when given a helping
hand by the likes of Rita Skeeter.
I will certainly be surprised if Fudge & the establishment do leave
Harry alone, and St Mungos has been introduced to us, so maybe...
