I think he wants to be a good role model... I,
however, don't think he'd be shocked to know that he
is considered a bad one. He's told the kids several
times that they shouldn't break the rules. I remeber
him telling Harry off about poor judegement on a
couple of occassions.

teaching, I think he is competent in this area, he
knows more about magical creatures than most, from
what I've seen. The thing that is going to be Hagrid's
downfall, is his love for dangerous creatures(Maybe
it's the giant blood). Maybe Hagrid doesn't think
before he leaps, but his hearts in the right place.
