My comment (not aimed at Kyli in particular) is that I'd *really* love an
epic series where everybody wasn't related to everybody else.

I know it's a big deal in Lucas' Star Wars saga, and that that kind of tends
to make everyone steeped in modern saga culture think that way...but it
irritated me that he did that, too. Taking a few steps back, it could be
seen as "how this one dysfunctional family without adequate father role
model figures ended up getting a bunch of people killed and destroying a
planet or two along the way". (Never fear, I don't think that way as a rule
- I really do enjoy the movies and most of the characters. I would have
liked it better had a blood tie [which is then inadequately supported in the
mythos - nobody seems to be encouraging those Jedi to breed! and that's
stupid if The Force is a chromosomally linked trait - like wizardry, to loop
this discussion back where it belongs] *not* been such a strong driving
force.

I think that's why I'm plumping not to have everyone significant related to
everyone else. So much of what JKR writes now is that it's not about *what*
you are but *who* you become that matters.

I would not care for it if Harry turned out to be too directly related to
Dumbledore. But it's JKR's universe.
