I'm probably going a little overboard on this subject, but I find
Draco and Harry's relationship very interesting.

Just some thoughts.

There is a lot of speculation that once it gets right down to war with
Voldemort, that Draco will see the light and see the futility of
fighting with Voldemort, and instead, join Harry's side and fight with
him. But why would he do that? Well, if he discovers that Harry is
family that may be enough to start him thinking about the whole
Voldemort thing. It would certainly start him thinking about Harry and
it would almost guarantee that he would suddenly begin to see Harry
differently.

Anyway, I thought that was a great concept.

As long as we are on the subject, let me make a few comments about the
nature of evil.

I think, despite being childish, insecure, and overly influenced by
his father, Draco is very intelligent, even extremely intelligent.
When it comes right down to war between the magic world and Voldemort,
I think Draco will take a close, intelligent look at the situation and
see how insane, warped and illogical this whole 'rule the world'
delusion is.

The problem with evil is that it is inherently corrupt and
self-destructive. That's also the reason why good always wins in the
end, because evil, eventually, is the architect of it's own doom.

Draco, could be very tight with Voldemort, he has access to the inner
most circle. I would dare say that, if he chose to, Draco could be the
crown prince of the Voldemort empire; heir to the throne. But what
would he be heir too? I think this quote explains it very clearly.
(this is from one of my fan fiction stories; I've cleaned it up slightly)

"Even though you (Draco) may be evil, you are still a genius and too
smart not to see what a lost cause this Voldemort crap is. The guy is
a lunatic; complete nutter, totally irrational, and anyone who takes
an objective look at it, can see that even if he wins, he loses.
Besides Draco Malfoy is lord, he is not lorded over. Draco Malfoy bows
before no man, much less some scaly /'lower appendage, not legs'/
lizard man."

"Let's say Voldemort wins and he makes your sweet /posterior/ his
crowned prince of the empire. What are you the crown prince of? What
is he the lord and master over? ...a wasteland. The population
decimated, the economy and commerce in ruin, and the world, a field of
ashes. That makes you the crown prince of a field of ashes. That makes
Voldemort lord and master of a wasteland; lord and master of a
destroyed totally dysfunctional impoverished society. Is that what you
had in mind for your future; crown prince of ashes?"

Even the organizational structure of an evil megalomaniacal empire is
corrupt because it's based on seeking power NOT results. How long
before, L.Malfoy decides that he's tired of kissing Voldemorts
posterior and finds a way to get rid of Voldemort so L.Malfoy can be
lord and master? Then how long before some other power hungry 'friend'
decides he's had enough of L.Malfoy? Perpetually self-destructive.

I think some event, maybe finding out that Harry is family, or
witnessing his first torture of helpless women and children, will
cause Draco to take a deeper look, and decide that he's on the wrong
side. Decide that even if Voldemort wins, EVERYBODY LOSES.

Better to part of something than King of nothing.
