What are everyone's views on the nature of cats in Harry Potter?
First there is Mrs. Norris. No one likes her of course, but is she really that bad? She's only doing her job, after all, trying to help her master do his job. Students hate her, but are they really supposed to be snooping around the halls? I think Mrs. Norris gets a bad rap, she's only trying to help.
Second, Crookshanks. We're not supposed to like her at first. She tries to eat Scabbers. Causes fights between Ron and Hermione. But yet she is really a better judge of character. She recognized what no one else could in Scabbers--should've let her eat him when they had the chance.
Third, McGonagall transforms into a cat. It seems like the other two cats mentioned above are viewed as "bad" but really aren't. McGonagall is good, right? Right? I was not looking for a Evil McGonagall connection in this, but have I found it anyway? Could it be that the cats in Harry Potter are the opposite of what they appear? Bad=good and Good=bad? Or am I thinking too much?
