Hi All,

And perhaps the dementors did try to attack Harry in Privet drive.
PS c 3 p 28:

"Harry spent as much time as possible out of the house, wandering
around"

"Mrs Figg wasn't as bad as usual. It turned out she'd broken her leg
tripping over one of her cats and she didn't seem quite as fond of
them as before. She let Harry watch television and gave him a bit of
chocolate cake"

To misquote Madam Pomfrey, we've finally got a neighbour who knows
her remedies. Perhaps the cat explanation is a ruse and Arabella
broke her leg tackling a dementor. She may be fearful that it got
close enough to Harry to sap his energy - hence the chocolate cake.
Of course she'd report the incident back to Dumbledore and less than
a page later (one day) his invite to Hogwarts appears in the post.
Dumbledore and McGonagall must have panicked that Privet Drive was
not as safe as they thought: he's protected from he-who-must-not-be-
named there, but not from dementors (Voldemort's natural allies GoF
p 564).

          Cheers,

           Tim.
