I never noticed that before.  I've always been aware of the H's 
(Harry, Hermione, Hagrid, Hedwig, Hogwarts, Hufflepuff, Hooch, etc.), 
but there ARE a lot of M's.  Minerva McGonagall, Moaning Myrtle, the 
Madams (Hooch and Pince), Molly Weasly, even in Hermione, the M is 
more prominent that the H (say it out loud and see.)  I think the 
most amazing thing JK Rowling does, whether conciously or 
unconciously, is her creation of names.  Each one is wonderfully 
perfect for the character.
