I wrote about Hagrid:

Well, yes. ;-P For a textbook example of one teacher trying to one-up
(and sabotage) another, see Snape's behavior while substituting for
Lupin. I love Snape dearly, but that's no reason to attribute his
character flaws to Hagrid.
There are milder examples sprinkled throughout the books: Lockhart
makes lame attempts to one-up other teachers throughout CoS.
McGonagall makes snarky comments about Trelawney to the students. I
would even say that Lupin's boggart lesson qualifies, in a sneaky,
passive-aggressive sort of way. :-) The Hogwarts staff room must be a
regular hotbed of backstabbing and political maneuvering. :-)
