Hagrid is not an educated man, at least not in the formal book
learnin' sense. Having said that, I now have to ask how many of you
have ever tried to teach anything to a group of people, especially in
a formal setting? Being a trained working teacher doesn't count. I'm
referring to ordinary people who have been thrust into this situation.
It's not an easy task, not even for a person with a significant formal
education. Being a teach is just plain hard; leason plans, research,
materials, tests, etc.
So, Hagrid is just making it up as he goes along; he really don't know
what to do. He doesn't know how to go about being a teacher, or how to
gauge his material to his students. But, in my opinion, given a little
time to get a foot hold, he will learn all these things and will
eventually become a very good 'Care of Magical Creatures' teacher. He
certainly has superior knowledge and experience, and eventually, once
he figures it out, he will develope a leason plan and a somewhat, in
his own special way, structured approach to teaching his students. I
think that is what the story is showing us; it's showing Hagrid
gradually pulling it all together. Although, we are probably a book or
two away from seeing it all pulled together.
Others may predict the future differently, but I think Hagrid will
become one of the students favorite teachers.
