I'd have killed him. I'd have found a way to murder him. Let
Voldemort take over. Snape would be dead.
But again, I keep thinking maybe this is an act. Snape knows he has
to put on the "hate Gryffindor" vibe for the benefit of Draco, Crabbe
and Goyle.
Or, it could be both. It's an act and old Severus really does enjoy
slapping down students. I just really get the vibe of someone who
hates kids and therefore shouldn't be a teacher.

What I'd like to see in the big resolution? I'd like to see Snape
telling Hermione: "Miss Granger, a teacher hopes for a student like
you once in four generations. I am sorry I could never tell you this
before."
Corny? Absolutely, but hey, I'm the 30-year-old guy who teared up
when Neville got those 10 points and who STILL gets a bit misty when
Molly pulls Harry into that mommy-hug.
