My comment on this is that I LOVE the old fashioned "morals" in these books. It's JKR's make-believe world, so she could make it as ideal as she wants. I remember my Junior High and High School experiences, with mostly-nostalgic-but-tainted-with-melancholy memories A big part of fitting in with "the" crowd was underage drinking & smoking (legal and non-legal, if you get my drift...) among other things. Needless to say, I made many stupid mistakes during my teen 12-17 years. JKR's world captures the thoughts and emotions of a very innocent character in a very idealized way, but that allows me to "reconstruct" my memories into more innocent ones, so to speak I love losing myself in these books for that very reason.

Amen, brother! <g>
Another thougt on a slightly different tangent...did anyone ever notice that Harry never seems to bathe (except in GOF in the prefects bathroom)? Maybe it's because JKR felt that there just wasn't any room to talk about hygene habits. let alone what presents Harry gives to Ron and Hermione for their birthdays. Is it because when you're 11-12, you don't need to everyday? But that would change as you get 13 & 14, I would assume, depending on the individual. I think this was the case for me because puberty came in with a "bang" at 13 (first day of 7th grade, too. Not fun!)
>From the way it sounds in the books, he just rolls out of bed, gets dressed, eats meals and attends classes, practices quidditch (getting rather "stinky" I would assume, let alone rain-drenched with muddy feet), does homework, gets in his jammies, goes to bed, gets up, gets dressed.... etc. Anyway, maybe being a bit L.O.O.N.-y about this. I looked on the archives and didnt' see anything about this. Just curious about any thoughts.

p.s.Yahoomort's spell-check doesn't work for me for some reason, so I'm sorry for any mistakes. Or, just think of it as "invented spelling"...elementary teachers know what I'm talking about!
