I agree - the chamberpot line sounds more like a throwaway to me (and
really reminds me of s aimilar throwaway gag in the great UK series Dr
Who when the 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) found a previouly unknown room in
the semi-sentient TARDIS that was full of boots....

The Prefect's bathroom seems the best possibility. I've just grabbed
my UK copy of GOF (got to do this quick - time to go to work!) and
read the description of the room.

On p 399 of the UK ed ("The egg & the eye" chapter) the pefect's
bathroom is listed as having:

- a candle-filled chandelier
- everything is made of white marble
- the rectangular swimming pool/bath
- a hundred jewel incrusted golden taps
- linen curtains & towels
- a single painting - the mermaid

I reckon there's something behind that painting...

Who also thinks D-Dore's office needs more inspection (but it wasn't
intro'd in book 4 so it can't be *this* secret filled room)
