While this argument makes total sense to me logically, I don't think
it would be the first time that a new team member joined and became
captain in the same year. IIRC, Cedric is introduced in PoA as the
new captain and seeker for Hufflepuff. I always took that to mean
(based on however it was worded in the text... I'm too lazy to go dig
out the book) that Cedric was both the new seeker and the new
captain. He was a fifth year in that book... showing that Harry
isn't too young, and it isn't TOTALLY beyond the imagination that the
new Keeper could be the captain if best qualified.
I guess the real question is... does the captain pick the new player
or does the team do it together and then decide on a new captain? I
see some sort of faulty loop if the captain has to pick the new
player, but the new player is going to be captain ;).
Erin, who is too tired to go find a book but keeps reading these
messages anyway... glutton for punishment??
