He did not try to poison Harry. Harry chooses to interpret his hints this
way,
but we don't actually know if he intended to do that. (And even if he did,
which is quite possible ;-) something tells me Snape would have his own
antidote handy in case Harry's didn't work)

Does he remember kids hexing him in the end of PoA?
And setting him on fire in PS didn't help either. Remember this strange
scene where
he confiscates Harry's book? I bet he recognised that blue fire.
I've always thought that a little apology in the end of year one would do
wonders
to Harry/Snape relationship. It seems Hermione could also use one. Of course
it wouldn't be half as much fun then.
