Roo was relaxing on the DOCTOR FLOWER, idly admiring the
job he had managed to do at lashing his two different ships
together, with the much-appreciated stake and twine donated by
Cindy.
Not thinking like searching for hedgehogs or building more
ships, he flicked through a multitude of posts that he had
allowed to accumulate. Nothing really caught his eye, until he
came across an extract of a post concerning Mrs Figg, written by
Darrin Burnett:
> Maybe not that blatant, but I'd like to see some dawning of
> realization by Vernon and Petunia that Mrs. Figg has been
more than
> she seemed.
Roo stopped for a second and gazed pensively out across the
bay; something had stirred up conflict in his mind. . . But what
was it?
Of course! Vernon and Petunia can't have a "dawning of
realization", because they already know about Mrs Figg's true
nature!
Talking to himself, and hastily gathering building materials, he
went on,
"It does seem strange that Harry, whenever the Dursleys were
out, was sent to stay with Mrs Figg, who *just happens* to be a
powerful witch who is a close confidante of Dumbledore. Mrs
Figg is seemingly part of Dumbeldore's protection of Harry, given
that she is part of the Old Crowd.
But that means Dumbledore must have somehow influenced the
Dursleys into sending him there, given that the Dursleys would
be highly unlikely to associate with someone like Mrs Figg by
pure chance alone.
But how could he do that without Harry ever noticing?"
Roo's ship had hit a snag, and for a while he didn't know how to
stop his ship from floundering. He needed a can(n)on. . .
But then it struck him
"Of course," he shouted exultantly, "the Letter! The long-forgotten
letter that was left with Harry when he was deposited on the
Dursley's doorstep. . . the letter that Harry knows nothing about . .
. the letter that hasn't had any of its contents disclosed at all! I bet
Dumbledore left instructions in that letter, one of which was to
always leave Harry with Mrs Figg if the Dursleys went out! And
Harry is going to find out about that letter, and learn something
extremely important! Harry will learn of this letter when Figg is
announced as the new DADA teacher, and she talks to Harry"
Then he had another thought: "Surely there was more in that
letter than one instruction concerning Mrs Figg? What else could
have been in there? I wonder. . ."
Not wanting to incur any yellow flags, Roo decided to leave the
shipbuilding at that until someone else found some can(n)ons
to add to it.
Before getting back to the relaxing, Roo pulled out his wand, and
conjured a flag to fly from the centre of his fledling ship. On the
flag, he painted a letter, with the words "DAFT INSIGHT" within
(Dursleys Aware of Figg's True Nature. Now She Is Going to
Hogwarts to Teach)
And then he lay down, and had a nice little snooze.
Roo, who is now snoring extremely loudly and rudely.
