Richelle, I don't mean to pick on you here, because I don't think
you've posted all the messages I'm going to respond to here.

I am one person who has floated the idea that it is possible to
switch houses, but I think it has to be in extreme circumstances --
my original theory was centered around relations between Snape and
his fellow Gryffindors becoming so awful that D-Dore allowed Snape to
move.

I base this on one flimsy thing. Sirius never says Snape was in
Slytherin. He says that Snape "ran with a gang of Slytherins."

I do not believe Sirius was in Slytherin because Snape hated him and
all of Snape's running buddies were in Slytherin. Therefore, I
assume, conjecture and intuit that Sirius was not a Slytherin.

But no Headmaster is going to override the Sorting Hat, which
contains, if I'm not mistaken, pieces of the essence of each of the
Four Founders, over a school romance or which house has a Seeker or
Chaser opening.

So, no, I don't believe James switched houses to be with Lily. As
Percy/Penelope, Cedric/Cho and even Ron/Padma have shown, you don't
have to be in the same house to go out.

And no, James didn't switch because he could be Seeker or Chaser or
whatever.

-- So, if Percy and Penelope have a little girl, might she be called
Persephone? And no, it's not prounounced PER-Se-PHONE!
