Before I respond to John's questions, I'm going to be geistly for a
moment and remind everyone to please change the subject if your post
goes off on a tangent, as have most of the responses to John's Avada
Kedavra question.

Harry had cast one? After all, he was able to cast the very advanced
Expecto Patronum spell with impressive results, driving away not just
one but multiple dementors.>
Amusing if he killed someone? I wouldn't say that, but these are
interesting questions. Here's the thing I wonder about Avada Kedavra:
what kind of concentration does it take for it to work? Does one have
to think "I want to kill this guy!" for the curse to work? Avada
Kedavra isn't even like the other unforgiveables. It is the mother of
all curses. Would Dumbledore be able to cast Avada Kedavra? I ask
this because I have a very hard time envisioning Dumbledore doing
something so lasting and damaging as Avada Kedavra, or even wanting
to. I suppose I see Harry the same way. When he had the opportunity
to kill Sirius (or at least to hurt him badly), he couldn't do it.
Maybe Avada Kedavra has as much to do with the person casting it as it
does with the words as well as the effect. It's like holding a gun in
your hand that is pointing at the heart of someone you hate. Could
you pull the trigger? I couldn't.
I'm not helping here. I guess now I'm wondering as much as John what
people think it takes to cast Avada Kedavra.
