I'm not a 100% sure I understand the question. It seems to center
around the word 'amusing'.
Are you asking if, Harry cast a death curse in the context of Moody's
comment in the classroom? That is casting it on the assumption that he
could never make it work? That's like pointing a loaded gun at someone
and pulling the trigger. Anyone who knows anything about gun safety,
knows that there is no such thing as an UNLOADED gun. You treat all
guns as if they were loaded, because a mistake can be deadly.
Or, did you mean, have Harry kill one of the spiders the way Moddy
did? That would certainly show a lot of arrogance, and disregard for
the seriousness of the curse. That's more like something Draco would
do. I think Harry's too nice a guy to treat a death curse so casually.
This brings up another question. Do you think Harry could and would
use the death curse?
Could he execute someone, even if it was in the context of war? If he
fought Voldemort and disarmed him, would he execute Voldemort, or
knowing the deathly evil nature of Voldemort, would he try to capture
him instead?
I certainly think Harry has the magic power to throw an effective
death curse. I think his magical ability is much much greater than we
have seen so far. But like most people, I don't think he could kill
someone out side the context of immediate fear for his life;
self-defense.
