One of the first posts that I read as a newcomer a couple of weeks ago was
whether it was possible for Dumbledore to be an Animagus. I thought this
rather interesting, and while I was rereading CoS, it crossed my mind again.
So I read the ending very carefully, and I'd like to raise this question:
Could the phoenix that Harry thought was Fawkes be in fact Dumbledore in his
animal form? The ending goes something like this (paraprsing):
After getting out of the chamber, they follow Fawkes, who seemed to be
leading them to McGonagal's office. Then, there's no mention of Fawkes
until after they enter, then Fawkes flies over Harry's shoulder and onto
Dumbledore's, who's already there. Couldn't it be possible the the real
Fawkes and Dumbledore switch places before the kids open the door? This
would also provide a great diguise since everyone would think that a red
phoenix around Hogwarts was Fawkes (not like it gets out very much though)
Plus, is the phoenix the mortal enemy of the serpent?
Also, if Apparating was not possible within Hogwarts, how can Dobby do it? In
CoS, it has him disappearing at least 2 times(Hospital wing and at the end)
Also, the phoenix that appears in the Chamber of secrets to help Harry
appeared out of nowhere.
