You were looking too far ahead in SS. While still in
the hut on a rock Harry worries about how to pay for
his school things when he pays the post owl for
deliverin' the paper.

"I haven't got any money..."
"Don't worry about that," said hagrid, standing up and
scratching his head. "D'yeh think yer parents didn't
leave yeh anything?"
"But if their house was destroyed..."
"They didn't keep their gold in the house boy! Nah,
first stop for us is Gringotts."

So, the unnamable movie used an actual quote, just at
a different point. So, the gold did come from his
parents.

word fromt he book gosh darn it :) that's my story and
i'm sticking to it.
