 It does make sense when you read it, but when you really start 
thinking about it, it gets very confusing. If Dumbledore hadn't 
given H&H the hint, would they have thought to save Buckbeak?  

I suppose that since Buckbeak had already turned up missing, yes, 
Dumbledore suspected that H&H were the ones to save him. So I 
suppose he HAD to give them the hint.

Now I'm confused. So, what if Dumbledore had left it entirely up to 
H&H? Or, was he forced to give them the hint, because of what had 
happened earlier?
