Personally, I think it's just because Remus is more concerned about
Sirius than he is about himself. He and Sirius were once good friends
(or possibly more, depending on who you're talking to), they've just
been reunited, and Remus has just had the exquisite joy of finding out
that Sirius is innocent. He also knows that Azkaban is not a pleasant
place to be; understandably, he'd be VERY upset at the prospect of his
good friend (or possibly more, depending on who you're talking to *g*)
being sent back there for a crime he didn't commit.
If Remus really is the compassionate sweetheart that he seems to be, it
only stands to reason, I think, that he'd be more concerned about
someone he loves rotting away in that awful place than he would be about
his own fate. If I were in a similar situation with someone I really
cared about, I know that I'd think of *their* welfare before I worried
over mine.
I just got here, BTW. Hello! :)
*Rochelle.
