Snape's oily hair

Yes, I have known people with excessivly oily hair also, but wouldn't it 
look much nicer, and much less "dirty" if Snape kept it shorter? Mayhap 
long hair is in vogue at Hogwarts, at least in Snape's mind, but, if my 
hair always looked like I coated it in oil, I would tend to keep it short!
