Both Parents Work? Where's the Canon?

Yes, I'm afraid so...  There's so many fan fictions out there, and some are just really well-written, so they get ingrained in my mind!  That's why I said "if."  I didn't know exactly where I had gotten that from, but I guess I really liked the idea of husband and wife tag team Aurors.  :)

Me:
Gosh, when you put it that way...does that sound awfully sexist to anybody else?  Only mentioning the wives in connection with their husbands and not really learning anything else about them?  And it being specifically mentioned that the career women are husbandless and childless?  Am I being too American? Is it more common maybe for mothers to stay at home in Britain, rather than to have both a career and a family?
