Also the famous "Back to Reality" episode of _Red Dwarf_, in which the
"Despair Squid" causes the crew to hallucinate and believe that their
journey through deep space was just a very elaborate, "Total Emersion"
computer role-playing game.

My feeling is that if it is all a dream, then it completely negates
all the moral messages in the series, including, ironically, "It does
not do to dwell on dreams, Harry"!!
