This isn't a new idea, although the word "fan" is not really the 
right one here, I think her use of it is really just to throw people 
off IF in fact the doomed soul is Snape. It's obvious that Snape is 
obligated to protect Harry whether he likes it or not and it's fairly 
clear he'd go as far as need be to do so. As a Snape fan this 
terrifies me. I've thought Snape was the one JK was referring to 
since the first time I heard her tell this sad tale. I sincerely hope 
I'm wrong, but it fits the Snape as classic anti-hero formula. 
Personally I think he's smart enough to finish of V, save Harry and 
the day and manage to walk out of the mess.
