This thread on the spectators of the third task (including popcorn!)
is indirectly related to a question that has long lingered in the
back of my brain:

When Harry and Cedric were portkeyed away, what did the crowd know of
what was happening? Was Dumbledore aware that something had gone
wrong? Was everyone else in the crowd aware, or did they just think
the tasks were taking a VERY long time? Were the professors all
running around trying to solve the mystery of the missing champions,
until Harry showed up face down on the grass?

I have even wondered if there was some sort of time glitch (a la
Narnia) where the whole graveyard scene (which must have lasted about
an hour) was just a blip in Hogwarts time. That doesn't seem likely,
though, since the graveyard and Hogwarts aren't in two different
worlds.

I would love to know what theories people have on this question.
I've always tried to imagine Ron and Hermione, and what they were
doing during that whole part.
