life remember that Harry taught Hermione how to conjure a
patronus or that she ever had a chance to try if she could.

In Capter 20 of PoA when the dementors started toward Harry and Hermione,
Harry did try to get Hermione to help him.  He basically told her to think a
happy thought and the words to say.  Hermione was not successful and passed
out as the many dementors approached.
