Yes what you say is possible, I agree. But my gut feeling is that 
it's a lot deeper than that. The books work on so many different 
levels at the same time that your explanation seems too shallow for 
the genius of Dr Rowling.

I've continued thinking about the number and I've gone to the "root" 
of the number as is done in numerology (arithmancy). Then you get 
9+3+4=16=1+6=7. THE number! Just a coincidence? The Wizarding World 
Press' third Rule of Constant Vigilance is: "There's no such thing as 
coincidence [in the HP books]". (See "Ultimate Unofficial Gide to the 
Mysteries of Harry Potter" by G. Waters and A. Mithrandir).
