       Interesting. Another posibility is the spring equinox, wich was also 
ued as the date for the eginning of the New year, up until the early 1750's. 
January 1st was finally oficially establised as New Year's Day with the 
calendar reform of that era [just ask any genealogist checking dates...]. I'm 
not sure what that does to the calculations on birthdates and ages, though.
