Thank you! I think we can all agree that the Dursleys were not a 
good portrait of "how to have a loving relationship when youre Harry 
Potter" and since they made Harry feel worthless all of his life, he 
lacks the self esteem to even start from square one. Wheneve he saw 
other kids together in the books, it was like he was talking about a 
novelty or foreign being. 

It is part of Harry being Harry-- he isn't the stuck up star, and he 
isn't the ladies man.
