I don't think it inevitable at all.  For one thing, this is fiction, 
so I expect the Good Guys to win, but if Dumbledore dies, they won't. 
  No one, with the possible exception of Arthur, is capable of leading 
the fight against Voldemort.  If Dumbledore dies, Voldemort wins 
(unless he dies just before the Final Battle).
