The rub here, though, is that the prophecy says that "either must
die at the hand of the other."  If a Dementor killed LV, then he
wouldn't have died at Harry's hand.

In fact, it might even be read as meaning that one will kill the
other *physically* in some way instead of via spell.  If Harry is
in fact descended from Godric Gryffindor (and I suspect he is,
given the "Godric's Hollow" name of his parent's home), I wouldn't
be too surprised if he were to slay LV with Gryffindor's sword...
