I suspect  that  hatred would not be enough.

Crouch!Moody also says  that "AK's a curse that needs a powerful bit of
magic behind it" and that he's "not going to  teach them how to do it."

Presumably the same sort of conditions apply to the  other two 
'unforgivables' as well. A user would need to learn them and the wizard 
needs to have more than average power to cast them successfully. So
it's a bit more  than just waving a wand and saying Crucio!.

The question then arises, when and  where did Harry learn the basics of
the  Crucio!  curse?
